Thanks ben
Ben contributing to the moral degradation of society by masticating in public. The shame, the shame.
This is my favorite lecture outside the great players of the past series. Talking about playing in disadvantage, how bad engines are at it, the winning/ rating bit at the end. 10/10
Within the first 2 minutes I learned that I am the luckiest 😅👍
Thank you Ben Finegold, you made very interesting videos
Maybe the tactic you are taking is a trap to squeeze your position. Petrosian did that a lot. He would make you take a pawn & you end up squeezed from an anaconda.
Hey, if you weren't Finegold you'd still be just Fine.
Never underestimate your opponent, unless you are your own worst enemy, then estimate your opponent.
Please bring back more current chess content, miss your clips Ben
People frequently speculate about how Morphy would do against modern players. But what about the other way round ? How would the other nine players on Ben's list compare to Morphy if they were also born in the 1800s and had only ever played casual coffee-house chess, never studied theory etc. These other nine players would hardly ever have had an opportunity to play one another - living apart in different cities and different countries, at a time when travel (and even news) happened at a very much slower pace. Imagine Kasparov, for example, learning chess at home by himself and only playing against his dad ( and Rufus and Dufus ). It's important to remember that in Morphy's day, chess was just a game, not the fiercely contested sport it eventually became, and certainly not a viable profession. So the question to be asked is whether all these other players on Ben's list would have, independently of one another, attained such mastery of the game as Morphy did. There's no reason, it seems to me, to think they wouldn't have done so. Ben has often raised the interesting question of how Morphy became so strong in the absence of other strong players, but it seems to me that, as with geniuses in every discipline, their deep understanding is something that develops rapidly and almost independently of experience, repetition, and the usual trial and error approach that more ordinary minds require. It's very probable that Ben's top ten would have constantly won and lost against each other, had they all started on the same page.
Knight take his own bishop killed me 😂😂😂😂
I actually got the losing move... Ironic 😝

Who is this impostor? Real GM Ben Finegold says "I'm Grandmaster Ben Finegold and you're not"
The answer is Fries.
But the arbiter said No talking
What's on croissant?
This Mr. Attack guy comes up a lot. When are we getting a lecture on him?
Why is the worst game I've ever played on so many youtube channels 😭
dudes a monster
Why is it call 5 minutes with Ben Finegold and it only lasts 4 minutes? Frankly terrible!
Ben is the man with a plan. Didn't you know that? He is, it's a true story.
Steak will make you happier.
“I don’t care what you guys think about basically anything, I just want donations” 😂😂😂 You sir just earned a sub
Checkmate. Very good for white.
"I don't see a future for this rook... sort of like the kids in this class" Absolutely savage!
That knight reminds me of me.
Thank you Ben
The answer is fries🍟
This is a great videos because I say so.
For anyone that thinks chess is not a physical game this man has the scars to prove otherwise
"didn't last very long and was decisive" -- you talking about the pres. debate?
This lecture is great! I come back and watch so I can laugh at Reshevsky's gun (which is tripling on a closed file, obviously).
Saw the knight might be trapped before queen traid, saw the pawn was lost.... Then I realised I did see the game before...
I can see myself playing exactly that game as White. Can I be a super GM?
I beat your chess bot

K didn't do the surgical procedure because he won the game, but if he had lost.... 🤔
Wait, I'm confused... Did Vitiugov resign or did Kramnik resign...? If Vitiugov resigned why would Kramnik do the procedure on him...? 5 minutes with Ben is confusing...
Rewatch the video with a dictionary, google translate and possibly a translator
Ben said Kramnik would not do the procedure (because Vitiugov played poorly and was obviously not cheating)
Where ~do~you get your protein ben
It reminds me of a certain game I played this Saturday…. 😂
Thanks Ben
Very suspicious, better start the procedure
The guy playing the black pieces played too strong. Very suspicious.
Cheater!
I hope Raj has learned about Amdahl's law since this lecture. The decrease in compute time is unlikely to be linear w.r.t # of CPUs.
The Southern accent guy was very annoying. I mean, nobody, even Ben asked him. And he kept interrupting Ben and giving his comments like hMM I'm sO sMaRt, HmM hO Ho I'm sO fAnCy hO hO. Totally ruined the lecture for me.
Benst by test.
BTW, the violinist whom Prokofiev is playing against in the photograph in the intro is more than just "a famous violinist" -- he is David Oistrakh, who was of the same stature as a violinist as Prokofiev was as a composer. I think it's fair to say that, if you declared Oistrakh the greatest violinist of the 20th century, just as if you declared Prokofiev the greatest composer, many (perhaps even most) people would disagree with you, but nobody would call you crazy.
"The problem people have in life (...) is people don't do stuff. They just talk about it, and they talk about how they're going to do it. That's not how you accomplish things in life. If you want to accomplish things in life, you do them, and if it doesn't work out, you do something else. You don't ask other people, because other people will just tell you what they think, which is usually about themselves." This should be carved in stone or something
How about 1.d4...e5. The move computer cheaters use.
Mister GM Benjamin Finegold is the finest gold for the chess lessons!
